When a video of Caitlin Clark and Stephanie White's intense interaction during the Indiana Fever 's game against the Portland Fire surfaced, it quickly went viral and sparked various discussions about their relationship.
Popular sports commentator Skip Bayless claimed that White had been fired as Fever head coach as a result, a report that was quickly shut down by several other reporters. Still, the concerns about a potential strain in their relationship remained.
As it turns out, however, the heated exchange was never an issue for the Fever. In fact, according to Lexie Hull, it "wasn’t something that carried on" after the game, per Tony East of The IX Sports.
"This is in the moment something that happened and not something that is talked about now in our locker room, talked about even later on in the game," Hull stated, highlighting that the team didn't make a big deal out of it at all.
"That's just something that happened."
Hull's message was in line with what Clark said about the situation on Monday. The All-Star guard emphasized that it's just "two people being competitive," and that having rather passionate and intense exchanges during games "happens all the time."
White, for her part, said that she and Clark have a "great relationship." She added that her moment with her best player was simply coaching, and that's something that Clark wants.
"She wants to be coached. I want her to help me be a better coach. We're both competitive. We’re both stubborn. We're more alike than different. Hopefully, we continue to bring the best out of each other," White added.
Based on what has been said so far about the Fever's situation, there doesn't seem to be any reason for fans to be worried.
