Los Angeles Sparks star Cameron Brink , the second overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, plans to make her return from her left ACL injury against the Las Vegas Aces.

Brink tore her left ACL on June 18, 2024, against the Connecticut Sun.

“I don’t know if I can say that, but yeah, yeah,” Brink said when John W. Davis of The LB Press-Telegram asked her if she’s playing on Tuesday.

Cameron Brink appeared in 15 games for the Sparks last season. She averaged 7.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.1 steals and 2.3 blocks while shooting 39.8% from the field, 32.3% from beyond the arc and 84.0% from the free-throw line.

Brink is coming back at the perfect time. Her Sparks are on a five-game winning streak.

“It means the world,” Brink said about playing again. “I’m just very excited, very humbled by this experience. You know, it’s no easy thing to come back from, so just — just really excited.”

The Sparks are 11-14 on the season. They are third in the WNBA in points per game, 12th in points per game allowed, fifth in offensive rating, 11th in defensive rating and ninth in net rating.

Brink will help the Sparks improve on defense since she’s an elite rim protector.

“I feel like my defense has kind of always been something I’ve leaned on,” Brink said. “So probably. I would say defense. But yeah, just giving myself patience on offense, knowing that it’ll come eventually. But yeah, hopefully both will need some work, for sure.”

The Sparks haven’t made the playoffs since 2020. It will be fascinating to see if Brink and Co. can snap that streak this year.
