Despite Johannès's electric performance, Connecticut outperformed Liberty, cruising to a 94-86 win.
Johannès has played three seasons in the WNBA with the Liberty. She has consistently been a major contributor for them over the years, specifically known for providing a spark off the bench, thanks to her lethal three-point shooting and highlight-reel passing ability. In 2023 she averaged 7.1, 1.4 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 18.0 minutes.
A similar role is expected for Johannès this season, as is the one for the defending champion Liberty boasts. Johannès is expected to be a key contributor for the Liberty this season, and they are hoping to go back-to-back.
The Liberty has formed one of the most talented backcourts in the league, led by Sabrina Ionescu and Natasha Cloud. The addition of Johannès adds even more depth and firepower making them more dangerous this season.
They'll look to kick off their championship defense officially when they take on A'ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces on May 17th.
