The Phoenix Mercury extended their win streak on Thursday against the Chicago Sky, securing an 83-79 victory. The Mercury were coming off a 92-84 win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Tuesday.
One highlight of the game was the first career double-double of forward Natasha Mack. The former Oklahoma State forward started at center and finished the game with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Mack shot well from the field and made 55.6% of shots.
She helped four-time WNBA All-Star Kahleah Copper, who led the team with her 28 points, three rebounds and three steals. It was one of the best nights of her career, so far.
After the game, Mack confirmed that she felt relieved after she secured a double-double. She also revealed that the idea of if was playing at the back of her head.
"Yes and no," Mack said when asked if she was thinking about her double-double. "I was like, 'Ah, it can happen.' I was like, 'Well, if it don't, it ain't meant to be. It is what it is.'
When she secured the double-double, Mack joked about how her teammate, Alyssa Thomas, does it every night. Thomas had her seventh triple-double of the season in their game against the Sparks and leads the WNBA in triple-doubles.
"I was like, 'Finally! Dang!' I don't know how AT (Thomas) gets triple-doubles every night. That's hard."

Aside from her double-double in the night, Mack also had an important defensive play late in the game. The 6-foot-3 forward blocked Sky forward Angel Reese in the fourth quarter, which gave the team an advantage to win the game.
Copper applauded Mack for her defensive play on the two-time All-Star.
"Those are winning plays, y'all down the stretch," Copper said. "We don’t get tired. Those are winning plays. That's what she's supposed to do, that's what we expect from you every single night."
The Mercury looks to extend their winning streak to four on Saturday against the defending champions, the New York Liberty.
