PHOENIX — The Phoenix Mercury look to build momentum from their last win as they host the first-place Minnesota Lynx on Wednesday afternoon.
Phoenix Preview
The Mercury had a bounce-back performance against the Dallas Wings on July 7, defeating the Wings 102-72. Sami Whitcomb led the offensive charge for Phoenix, scoring a career-high 36 points and shooting 63.2% from the field and 63.6% from three.
Whitcomb’s 29 points in the first half were the most scored by a WNBA player in a half this season.
Alyssa Thomas secured her first triple-double in a Phoenix Mercury uniform and the 16th of her career.
The Mercury avoided a three-game losing streak with the win and are 13-6 in the season. They continue to hold second place in the Western Conference.
Minnesota Preview
The Lynx won their 11th straight home game of the season after defeating the Chicago Sky, 80-75, on July 6. The win set a new franchise record for most consecutive wins at home to start a season.
Courtney Williams scored 25 points for Minnesota, a season-high. Napheesa Collier scored 21 points and set the franchise record of consecutive free throw shots, with 45, after making all seven attempts in the win.
Minnesota is now 17-2 and continues to hold first place in the Western Conference, leading the league in wins.

The last time the Mercury and the Lynx met was on June 3. The Lynx defeated the Mercury, 88-65, in Minnesota.
