INDIANAPOLIS — Phoenix Mercury star Satou Sabally has announced that she will no longer be participating in the WNBA All-Star Game this weekend.

The All-Star has been dealing with a right ankle injury and hasn’t played since July 3. Sabally took to Instagram to express her disappointment over not being able to compete, despite working hard to be back on the court “as soon as possible.”

“I want to ensure I’m doing everything I can to be healthy after the break,” she said on her post. “And give my organization and the X-Factor everything I can as we compete to accomplish our team goals.”

Sabally was announced as a starter after being voted by fans for the All-Star game on June 30. She was slated to join Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark’s team.

Alyssa Thomas, Sabally’s teammate, was announced as a reserve and will play on Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier’s team.

Phoenix fans can catch Thomas represent the Valley in the WNBA All-Star Game on Saturday, July 19.
