Mercury Troll Sky as Alyssa Thomas Tops Angel Reese

The Phoenix Mercury just gave the Chicago Sky a reality check and Alyssa Thomas made sure it stung. In a back-and-forth clash that ended 94–89, the Mercury rallied late and sealed the win in style. Satou Sabally led the charge with 20 points, while Kitija Laksa came off the bench to drop 18. Meanwhile, Angel Reese had another strong outing with 13 points, 15 boards, and a double-double, but it wasn’t enough.

Alyssa Thomas was the difference-maker. With 10 points, 15 assists, and all-around impact on both ends, she flipped the game in Phoenix’s favor. The Mercury were trailing by four entering the final quarter, but Thomas and Sabally took over.

Thomas even tied Cappie Pondexter’s record for most assists (15) in a game against the Sky, showing why she's still a top-tier floor general.

But the drama wasn’t just in the numbers, it was personal. This game brought back memories of last season’s ugly altercation when Thomas slammed Reese to the ground. Fast forward to now, and things heated up again. Reese threw a tough screen, sending Thomas to the floor. In response, Thomas grabbed at Reese’s jersey, and the foul went against her. Still, she had the last laugh.

Postgame, the Mercury’s official X handle threw shade with a caption that read, “On Planet Mercury, what did NSYNC say? Oh yeah – bye bye bye.”

A direct shot at the Sky, and maybe even at Reese, who looked confident throughout but ended on the losing end.

Despite Reese making history by becoming the fastest WNBA player to reach 500 points and 500 rebounds in just 38 games, it was Thomas who walked away with the W and the bragging rights. On Tuesday night, Phoenix didn’t just beat Chicago, they trolled them too.
