PHOENIX — The Phoenix Mercury continue to pile on wins, set records and strengthen their All-Star cases as they close out a statement road trip.
The Mercury have won three straight road games for the first time since 2021 after defeating the New York Liberty on Thursday. Phoenix has given New York its second loss of the season and first loss at home.
Thursday’s win marked back-to-back night victories with Phoenix’s win over the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday. The Mercury have not only won three straight but also hold a four-game winning streak that began with a home victory over the Dallas Wings on June 11 — their first such run since 2021.
Stars Among The Mercury
Veterans Satou Sabally and Alyssa Thomas are making their presence felt in their first year in the desert.
Sabally is tied with the most 20+ point games this season with eight. She is only one of three players putting up at least 19 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal per game — with three-time MVP A’ja Wilson and 2024 MVP runner-up Napheesa Collier joining her.
Thomas has been on a tear for the Mercury so far. The win against the Liberty made Thomas the first player in WNBA history to score 18 points, 15 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals while shooting 60.0% from the field in a regular season game.
She also made franchise history by recording her fifth consecutive double-double game.

Thomas has the chance to join elite company and become the first player in WNBA history to average 14.0+ points, 7.0+ rebounds and 9.0+ assists while shooting 50% or better from the field.
Only four NBA players have achieved this feat: LeBron James, Magic Johnson, Nikola Jokić and Oscar Robertson.
