It's been quite a period of time for the Minnesota Lynx, who have been able to still rule the WNBA world despite losing WNBA MVP candidate Napheesa Collier. The Lynx are now 27-5 this season and in pretty good shape.
That doesn't mean Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve isn't about to not play her starters. Not in the least. Reeve knows that any letting up at this point will be detrimental to the team. She's been able to navigate through Collier's injury and look to other players to step up.
The Lynx are still ranked No. 1 in the latest WNBA Power Rankings, according to ESPN. For a broader perspective on the situation, ESPN reporter Kendra Andrews fills in some blanks about the current Minnesota squad.

“They are easy to coach, they are fun to coach. They are people before players, the quality of individuals that we have and their connection is really fun to be around. It’s authentic… They are on a mission to reach… pic.twitter.com/jOc4JKPxaq
"Despite losing Napheesa Collier for at least two weeks, the Lynx have managed to grind out three wins last week over Seattle, Washington and New York," Andrews wrote.
"Kayla McBride, Courtney Williams, and Alanna Smith have done a good job supplementing the scoring Minnesota lost when Collier went down against the Aces on Aug. 2, while DiJonai Carrington has found her footing through her first three games since she was traded from Dallas.
"Take Minnesota's game against the Liberty: McBride was able to pass off the defensive assignment of guarding Sabrina Ionescu to Carrington for stretches, helping McBride focus on her offensive game," Andrews wrote. "Carrington has six steals and two blocks through three games and has been a staple player in crunch time, already proving the trust her new team has in her."
It seems to some WNBA fans that the Lynx and New York Liberty have been playing each other all season long. Well, the two will clash again on Saturday, August 16. What will the result be this time? Don't be surprised if Reeve and her team are able to overtake the Liberty in Minneapolis.
