New Paige Bueckers Injury Revealed on Sunday

The Dallas Wings suffered their seventh straight loss on Friday, falling to the Atlanta Dream in lopsided fashion 100-78.

Paige Bueckers returned from a one-game absence to register a 16-point, 10-assist double-double with one rebound and a steal in 30 minutes of action. It was far from enough as the Wings proved no match against a Dream side that secured a playoff berth by beating Dallas.

The Wings are back in action on Monday in a tough matchup against the league-best Minnesota Lynx, who have already clinched the No. 1 spot heading into the WNBA playoffs. The bad news for Dallas is that Bueckers is dealing with a new issue and has popped up on the injury report for Monday’s matchup.

Bueckers missed Dallas’ loss to the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday due to an illness. She was listed as questionable for the Dream game, but was ultimately given the green light to suit up.

The Rookie of the Year front-runner is dealing with a calf issue. It is unclear when or where Bueckers sustained the injury, but it is significant enough for Dallas to list her on the injury report.

The fact that Bueckers is listed as probable to play against Minnesota means that she's likely to take the court. However, even if the former UConn Huskies star suits up, the Wings are still going to be extremely shorthanded against Napheesa Collier and Co.

Arike Ogunbowale, JJ Quinerly, Li Yueru, Luisa Geiselsöder, Ty Harris and Haley Jones have all been ruled out for the game already, while Aziaha James is doubtful to play.

The Wings have the worst record in the WNBA at 9-31. They have nothing left to play for this season, which could be a factor in the team being extra cautious with the health of its players.

The Lynx and Wings meet at 8 p.m. ET Monday.
