The Nike athlete has worn Kobe’s signature shoes since her college days at Iowa. Since signing with the company in 2024, Nike has been working on crafting her own signature shoe. For now, she’s designing her own player’s edition version of her idol’s iconic shoe.
Clark’s Protro PE’s, like other Protro models, will be engineered with a flexible Air Zoom unit and scaled-down traction for optimal court feel. The shoe is specifically made to be lightweight and supportive all-around.
“She’s put her prowess on display wearing an array of coveted Kobe models — now she has her own player edition It’s outfitted in Midnight Navy, Bright Crimson, vibrant hits of University Gold, and polished off with a high-gloss finish that glistens under the spotlight,” Nike’s official website reads.
Her recent reveal of “The Bellas” aren’t expected until 2026. That means her player edition drop on June 30 will be her first shoe out for retail. However, isn’t the first time the Nike athlete has collaborated with the brand to make her very own Kobe colorway. To begin the regular season, Clark debuted the Nike Kobe 5 Protro 5 ‘Rooke of the Year’ colorway during the Fever’s home opener.
The Nike Kobe 5 Protro are retros of the original sneaker that Kobe Bryant himself wore for the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2008 NBA season. It was originally re-released in 2019 and has featured multiple colorways in the several years since.
Clark signed a highly publicized eight-year, $28 million deal with Nike ahead of the start of her WNBA career last year. With that comes several amenities, and her own signature shoe is one of them. So fans won’t have to fret wondering if she’ll get one of her own someday.
While Clark now has multiple of her own colorways, it’s only a matter of time before she debuts her very own sneaker. For now, fans can enjoy Clark’s collaboration with the Kobe brand.
