Nike Sends Caitlin Clark Message on Friday

Nike faced public backlash at the start of the WNBA season for its lack of acknowledgement of Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark. The star signed an 8-year endorsement deal with the company in April 2024, which included $28 million guaranteed and her own signature shoe line.

On Friday, Fever head coach Stephanie White announced that Clark will return to the lineup on Saturday afternoon against the New York Liberty. Clark has been out since May 26 with a left quad strain. During her absence, the Fever went 2-3.

Shortly after the announcement, Nike posted a message on social media in response to an Indiana Fever post promoting her return.

“Alert the logos,” the company wrote on X.

The message refers to Clark's stellar shooting ability, often launching shots from well outside the 3-point line and closer to the area of the midcourt logos.

Clark rejoins a Fever team that has struggled to find consistency, unable to amass more than two consecutive victories all year. This is largely in part due to the injury bug that seemingly hit the Indiana locker room. Aside from Clark, they've gone several games this season without guard Sophie Cunningham.

On the bright side, this tough stretch has allowed other players to develop. The team had several players step up, like Kelsey Mitchell and Lexie Hull, to weather the storm. Mitchell was recognized as Eastern Conference Player of the Year, while Hull maximized her minutes increase off the bench.

In her four games played, Clark posted 19.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 9.3 assists per game, earning two wins and two losses. They now face the undefeated New York Liberty on Saturday, one step closer to full strength. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
