Caitlin Clark hasn’t played since July 16, when the Indiana Fever star re-aggravated a groin injury during their 85–77 win over the Connecticut Sun. On Friday against the Dallas Wings, Clark will sit out her sixth straight contest as she continues to recover from this concerning injury.
Her lack of game action has not dampened her competitive spirit, though, and a testament to this fact is how the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year went all out against Fever teammate Lexie Hull in a flip cup tic-tac-toe competition.
Unfortunately for Clark, she proved no match for Hull.
The Fever posted a couple of videos on social media on Thursday showing some of the players engaging in a few rounds of friendly flip cup tic-tac-toe. Clark was matched up against Hull, who, as it turns out, was a pretty good player.
Hull shut Clark out in the first round in a dominant display. In fact, she even gave Clark a chance to catch up before eventually putting her out of her misery. Clark won the second round, but Hull flexed her flip cup skills by winning the battle after the third round.
Hull just had to flex her win by sharing the video on her Instagram stories. The 6-foot-1 guard got savage with her caption, too.
“@stanford > @uiowa,” she wrote, referencing their respective colleges.

As if that wasn’t enough, Hull also jumped in on the comments section to further gloat over her victory.
“I needed better competition,” Hull said.
Clark, for her part, humbly accepted defeat. While she usually engages in friendly banter with her teammates, she knew she was utterly outdone this time around.
“Not my best showing,” admitted the Fever star.
It’s Hull who clearly won this round, and Clark has no other choice but to take this on the chin. However, given her intense competitive nature, it would not be surprising if the former Iowa star is already looking forward to her next competition against Hull, be it on the basketball court or otherwise.
