Olivia Miles Joins Rare WNBA Company Alongside Candace Parker and Sue Bird

Olivia Miles has had the strongest start of any rookie this season. After the win against the Dallas Wings on Thursday, the No. 2 pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft recorded her name in the history books alongside some of the game’s greatest names.

Miles started her rookie year leading the Minnesota Lynx, both in points and assists. On Thursday, she again led her team in assists in a 90-86 win over the Wings. The former TCU and Notre Dame standout guard is now leading her team in assists after the first three games.

On Thursday, in a 90-86 win over the Wings, she recorded 15 points, six assists, and a block while shooting 7 of 12 from the field. She is now only the third player since Candace Parker and Sue Bird to have at least 10 points and 5 assists in each of her first three games. Both Bird and Parker did it in the first four games of their careers.

After three games into the season, Minnesota has the 5th-best record in the season.

Despite missing their star player, Napheesa Collier, the Lynx are showing that they are one of the best teams in the league, and Miles has had a big contribution to her team’s success.

In all of her first three games, Miles has led Minnesota in the assist category.

She debuted with team-highs, 21 points and 8 assists in a loss to the Atlanta Dream. In the following game, she led her team with 7 assists. After 3 games, she is averaging 16.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, 7.0 assists, and a block per game, and is receiving love from her teammates.

Courtney Williams showers praise on rookie Olivia Miles

It’s hard not to be awed by the talent that Miles has displayed this early in the season, and proved that she belongs in the league.

Miles is already getting high praise from her veteran teammates and being compared to Chelsea Gray.

“I mean, she’s a little killer,” Williams told reporters.

“I said, “Look, let me move out your way”… happy to have her, happy to be back at my natural position, and she out here killing it, man, like I said this little joker here is like a baby Chelsea Gray, like she’s gonna be cold, she’s gonna be so cold. I’m excited to just be a part of the journey.”

The college to WNBA transition isn’t easy for players, but Miles’ seamless transition to the professional level mirrors the early careers of legends like Parker and Bird.
