Paige Bueckers Admits Serious Jealousy Toward Caitlin Clark

While appearing on Sue Bird's Bird’s Eye View podcast, Bueckers admitted that there was a point in her career where she was seriously jealous of Clark.

“I felt bad because I felt jealous in a way and I felt envious,” Bueckers said. “I’ve never been that type of person where I don’t want other people to succeed, like I want everyone around me to succeed more than I want myself to succeed.”

Bueckers won National Player of the Year as a freshman at UConn, but then suffered a devastating knee injury. She had to watch from the sideline as Clark rose to stardom in a big-time way.

“I was like...what about me though?”

It's refreshing to hear this kind of honesty from Bueckers

Jealously is a natural part of the human experience. It's refreshing, in a way, to hear this from Bueckers.

It's understandable that other WNBA or women's basketball players would be jealous of the attention and spotlight given to Clark.

Clark, ultimately, isn't asking for any of this, but it's come her way.

Bueckers, on the other hand, is an excellent basketball player in her own right, and deserving of a lot of attention and hype, too.
