Dallas Wings guard Paige Bueckers has been named the WNBA Rookie of the Month for June, the league announced Wednesday. It marks the first time a Wings player has earned the honor since 2019, as Bueckers continues establishing herself as one of the league’s brightest young stars.
In seven games during June, Bueckers averaged 21.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.7 steals, and 0.9 blocks per game while shooting 47.5% from the field and 92.9% from the free-throw line. She finished the month ranked third overall in scoring across the WNBA, led all guards in points per game, and became the only player league-wide to average at least 20 points and five assists for the month.
Bueckers’ standout moment came on June 11 against Phoenix, when she poured in a career-high 35 points — the only 30-point performance by a rookie this season and the second-highest scoring output by any WNBA player in June. In that performance, she also became just the second rookie in league history to record at least 35 points and five made three-pointers in a game, joining Caitlin Clark.
Her impact wasn’t limited to scoring. Bueckers also became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 200 points, 50 rebounds, and 50 assists, accomplishing the feat on June 22 against Washington. Five days later, in a win over Indiana, she became the first player ever to post a game with at least 25 points, five assists, two steals, two blocks, and zero turnovers.
While the personal milestones continue to pile up, Bueckers downplayed the individual recognition.
“Individual awards are really team accomplishments,” she said. “I wasn’t gonna scream and jump up and down, but I was very grateful.”
The 6-foot guard was also recently named a 2025 WNBA All-Star starter, becoming the only rookie to earn that distinction. In the voting process, which combines input from fans, media, and players, she finished with the second-highest composite score among all players.
“It means a lot,” Bueckers said. “We all know what it takes to get to this point and how hard it is to maintain a level of excellence… To have people who really know and understand the game… respect me, it means a lot.”
On the year, Bueckers leads all WNBA rookies in scoring (18.4), assists (5.8), and steals (1.85), while ranking fourth in rebounds (4.4) and blocks (0.92). She’s already cracked the top 10 in Wings franchise history for most assists in a rookie season and tied for the second-highest single-game scoring total by a Dallas rookie.
Still, Bueckers has remained grounded amid growing national attention.
“I don’t live to anybody else’s expectations or what I’m supposed to look like,” she said. “I just go out there and play every single game and every single possession as it is… You live with the results.”
Bueckers joins Arike Ogunbowale (2019), Allisha Gray (2017), and Odyssey Sims (2014) as the only Wings players to receive Rookie of the Month honors since the franchise relocated to Dallas.
