Caitlin Clark and Raven Johnson will aim to lead the Indiana Fever to another preseason win on Thursday.

The Fever cruised to victory in their first preseason game on Saturday, blowing out the New York Liberty on the road, 109-91.

Clark battled through some rust, going for seven points on 2-of-10 shooting, with three rebounds and four assists. Johnson, on the other hand, was a perfect 3-of-3 from the field for six points. The rookie also added three rebounds, eight assists, a steal and two blocks in her impressive Fever debut.

Clark and Co. play their first preseason contest at home on Thursday as they host the Dallas Wings at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Clark is now entering her third season in the WNBA. She’s no longer the new kid on the block. Right now, that role falls on Johnson and the Fever’s other rookies.

Speaking to James Boyd of The Athletic ahead of Thursday’s contest, Johnson revealed how Clark has played a pivotal role in her transition into the WNBA.

“Yeah, she's loving,” Johnson said of Clark. “Like, she's a goofy person. I think a lot of people don't really know her outside of basketball. Outside of basketball, she's funny.

“She has so much personality. I think that's what people need to know about her. Her personality goes a long way, and she's a great person.”

Apart from being a very helpful teammate, Clark also has an infectious attitude that brings out the joy in the people around her.

“She helps me through every little thing,” Johnson continued. “I can ask a question and she has an answer for it. So I think just playing with somebody like her means a lot to me.

“But she also has that sense of humor where she makes me laugh, too. And I'm like, ‘Caitlin, where did that come from?’ So it’s little things like that. But I’m also funny too, so I think that’s where we kind of match together and vibe with each other like that. So I love being around her.”

The Fever selected Johnson as the No. 10 overall pick of the 2026 WNBA Draft. They have high expectations for the reigning SEC Defensive Player of the Year.

Based on the former South Carolina Gamecocks star’s comments, it is clear that Clark is doing what she can to help put Johnson in a position to succeed early on.
