The New York Liberty made easy work of the Chicago Sky on Thursday night. The defending champions headed to Wintrust Arena in Chicago with a clear mission in mind, and they delivered by blowing out the home team, 99-74, to mark their second win of the new season.

Sabrina Ionescu had a relatively modest performance in the lopsided win, finishing with 16 points on 5-of-9 shooting, to go along with two rebounds, five assists and a steal in just 20 minutes of action.

The three-time All-Star also knocked down two triples on the evening to help the Liberty achieve a historic milestone. New York caught fire from beyond the arc in this one, connecting on no less than 19 treys to set a new WNBA record for most three-pointers in a single game.

The Liberty announced the big news on social media shortly after the win, and Ionescu just had to flex the feat via her own Instagram stories.

Ionescu did not need any words for her post because, in truth, the record in itself says it all.

That's now back-to-back wins for the Liberty following their 92-78 victory over the Las Vegas Aces in their season opener. The defending champs have sent a clear message to start the campaign, and there's no denying that this team is fully intent on retaining their crown this year.

Ionescu and Co. can make an even louder statement on Saturday when they take on Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. The game is going to be at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, too, which gives the Liberty an opportunity to take down Clark and the Fever in front of their own fans.
