One year into her professional basketball career, Paige Bueckers has already done a lot, including representing the United States women’s national basketball team. However, she still looks back at her college days, especially when the NCAA competition enters its business end.
The guard represented the UConn Huskies and won the national championship last year. With the team having made the Final Four, Bueckers was asked how it felt supporting the team as a fan.
“It’s really weird because, I mean, the whole season, I’m one year removed, so I’ve had FOMO and dang, I miss being out there with the team,” said Paige Bueckers in a video while on Team USA duty.

Bueckers was the best player on the team and even had a massive performance in the final against South Carolina. She scored 17 points to help the Huskies secure their 12th national title. A year later, almost the same team that was on the court with her is now once again competing in the Final Four against South Carolina.
“A lot of it is because it’s mostly the same team that I play with, so it’s a lot of the same players and people that I just went through a lot together with,” said Bueckers.
She also shared that she watched the current team practice in Fort Worth during the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight, which made her feel like she was part of the college team again.
“Like just seeing Coach yell at them, the girls having to come together and be like, nah, like don’t listen to him, like it’s a Sweet Sixteen, like we gotta lock in. And it was just like, yeah, definitely like crazy deja vu,” Bueckers remarked.
Talking about watching the team as a fan, she said, “Now I get to watch from like a fan perspective… I’m probably going to feel like the goosebumps again, and my heart racing. But I’m cheering for them hard, you know, UConn forever, bleed blue.”
While reflecting on her past with UConn, attention has now started to shift toward what the future could look like for Paige Bueckers.
With Azzi Fudd projected as the No. 1 pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft, there are already rumors going around that she could be with her girlfriend, Paige Bueckers, on the Dallas Wings.
So, when asked about that possibility, Paige Bueckers responded with a smile, saying, “That would be exciting. I don’t know all that I can say or what the future holds. But obviously, we’ve had a lot of games won under our belt. Won a national championship together. So, I think there’s great success in that. But I guess time will tell.”
Fudd also did not shy away from the idea when asked about potentially reuniting with Bueckers in Dallas.
“I mean, maybe,” she said with a grin, as reporters asked about the chance of becoming Bueckers’ backcourt partner again.
Having said that, do you think a reunion between Azzi Fudd and Bueckers at the Dallas Wings would make them instant title contenders?
