All things considered, the Seattle Storm look to be in a rebuild mode. Firstly, 10-time WNBA All-Star forward Nneka Ogwumike signed with the Los Angeles Sparks as a free agent. She spent the first 12 seasons of her career with Los Angeles. With the Storm, Ogwumike averaged 17.2 points and 7.3 points per game in her two seasons.

Next, seven-time All-Star guard Skylar Diggins exits Seattle after signing with the Chicago Sky this offseason. She averaged 15.3 points and 6.2 assists over her two seasons with the Storm. Additionally, guard Gabby Williams signed a multi-year deal with the Golden State Valkyries.

It’s important to note that with the trio of Williams, Ogwumike and Diggins, Seattle had back-to-back first round playoff exits (2024 & 2025), leading to the dismissal of head coach Noelle Quinn.

In October 2025, the Storm hired Sonia Raman as head coach, making history as the first head coach of Indian descent in the WNBA. Raman was previously an assistant coach with the New York Liberty and spent four seasons with the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies. The rookie head coach will get to shape the roster, doing so with some signings thus far.

Guard Zia Cooke and forward Mackenzie Holmes signed Training Camp Contracts on Saturday while landing guard Natisha Hiedeman.

Hiedeman was with the Minnesota Lynx the previous two seasons, averaging 7.1 points a game. She provides some range, shooting 37.6 percent from three-point range in her WNBA career.

Who Should The Seattle Storm Take In The WNBA Draft?

The 2026 WNBA Draft is on Tuesday in Hudson Yards at The Shed located in New York. Here, Seattle holds the No. 3 and 14 picks in the Round One. A guard should be atop the list, with either UConn’s Azzi Fudd or Olivia Miles of TCU being there at No. 3. There have been talks of Fudd, the AP First Team All-American, going first overall to the Dallas Wings.

Miles is a great option as the AP Second Team All-American put up 22.1 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 7.5 assists last season with the Horned Frogs. She could also potentially go No. 1 overall. At No. 14, there will be plenty of routes the Storm could go to. Miles’ teammate at TCU in forward Marta Suarez and guard/forward Cotie McMahon of Ole Miss are some options.

More will be learned on Tuesday night and with free agency what this Seattle squad will look like.
