Sheryl Swoopes Has Thoughts for Caitlin Clark’s All-Star Team

Sheryl Swoopes has never been shy about her thoughts on Caitlin Clark.

With the WNBA All-Star Weekend approaching, the three-time MVP engaged in a fun thinking exercise that required taking Clark's perspective: her own version of the All-Star draft.

Clark, 23, was named a starter and a captain for the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game, which will be held July 19 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, her home arena for the Indiana Fever.

Clark is averaging 18.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 8.9 assists this season. Despite playing just nine games for the Fever before the votes were tallied, the superstar guard broke her own record for most All-Star votes with a whopping 1,293,526.

It granted her the first pick to draft her squad from the pool of 20 other All-Stars against fellow captain Napheesa Collier of the Minnesota Lynx.

Swoopes was given the same task by Terrika Foster-Brasby, the co-host of their "Levels to This" show. Swoopes took the No. 1 overall pick and drafted "Team CC," while Foster-Brasby played the role of Collier.

Here's what the four-time WNBA champion and 2005 All-Star Game MVP came up with on Monday.

She used the first pick on Las Vegas Aces forward A'ja Wilson, the reigning WNBA MVP. That did not stop Swoopes from staying true to Clark's stated intention to get her Fever teammates Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell.

Foster-Brasby used her first pick to ensure that Dallas Wings rookie Paige Bueckers did not end up on Clark's team. After two rounds, her team was made up of three former UConn Huskies — Collier, Bueckers and New York Liberty forward Breanna Stewart.

Beyond the Fever trio, Swoopes valued continuity by taking the other two rookie All-Stars, Kiki Iriafen and Sonia Citron of the Washington Mystics. The Hall of Famer also teamed up Seattle Storm players Skylar Diggins and Gabby Williams on her squad.

Though Swoopes has appeared as a guest on Angel Reese's "Unapologetically Angel" podcast, she turned down multiple opportunities to draft the Chicago Sky star. Clark and Reese played together for Team WNBA in the 2024 All-Star Game.
