Following Caitlin Clark’s injury in the 2025 season, Lexie Hull stepped up to the plate and helped the Fever come within one game of the finals. However, Hull recently disclosed that playing alongside Clark is a completely different experience.
On April 9, Jackson Thompson of Fox News Digital shared an X update where Hull described that playing with Clark usually means a lot more eyeballs on the match. While it is exciting for her, it also presents certain challenges.
Hull stated, “The most challenging part is there’s just so much scrutiny. People have opinions online, and, unfortunately, that’s part of the job and the role that we play,” the 26-year-old said.

She also emphasized the human side of athletes, saying, “People need to know that everyone’s human.. I think when things get blown out of proportion… that’s where it gets over the line.”
When asked if she has personally faced online attacks, Hull responded, “I’m sure I have. I try not to read comments for that reason.”
Drafted by the Fever in 2022, the 26-year-old had two quieter seasons with smaller crowds and no playoff runs, but everything changed in 2024 when Clark arrived, bringing massive attention and changing how opponents approached games.
“Because of the fans that we’ve gotten since 2024, with the rise in, I think, like, popularity with the Indiana Fever being like a name that people know. … And there’s a million Fever jerseys and Fever shirts. I think, like, as an opposing team, you’d want to win even more because you feel there’s so many people rooting,” Hull said.
When asked if the game has become more physical, Hull said, “I think just the game itself is physical. I don’t know if it’s gotten any more physical. I think social media amplifies a lot of that.”
But as the spotlight grows, so does the curiosity around her next move.
The Indiana Fever’s free agency situation has taken a new turn, as the team has already made offers to players like Kelsey Mitchell and Hull, but the latter confirmed in a recent Tamron Hall Show appearance that she was attending a free agency meeting despite receiving a qualifying offer.
“We just finished working out, and now I have a meeting for free agency,” Lexie Hull said.
Over four seasons with the Fever, Hull has been a reliable contributor off the bench, averaging 5.5 points and 3.0 rebounds while providing valuable depth.
Her performance during last season’s playoffs, especially in Caitlin Clark’s absence, stood out as she averaged 10.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists over eight games, which is why the team has prioritized her with a new offer and made her a restricted free agent.
Having said that, do you think the spotlight around Caitlin Clark has made life harder or better for players like Lexie Hull?
