Sophie Cunningham had an eventful offseason. After some doubt surrounding her Indiana Fever future, the 6-foot-1 guard decided to extend her time with the team. Cunningham signed a one-year contract in free agency amounting to $665,000.

Cunningham previously admitted that she planned on testing the market, but it is clear that her preference was to remain in Indianapolis.

Cunningham averaged 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.7 triples in 25.2 minutes per contest. Unfortunately, the 6-foot-1 guard’s season was cut short after 30 games. Cunningham underwent season-ending knee surgery in August, but has since made a full recovery.

In a recent interview, Cunningham admitted that she was actually looking to sign a longer deal with the Fever than the one-year contract she agreed to. The 29-year-old expressed her desire to remain in Indiana for the long run.

There is no denying that Cunningham has gotten comfortable with the Fever. In fact, based on her recent admission, she may have gotten a little too comfortable.

In a promo video posted by the team on Monday, Cunningham was asked if she’s ever taken anything from the Fever locker room. The former Missouri Tigers star did not hesitate to admit to her actions.

"I've taken a lot from the locker room," she said. "Mainly, it's like food and beverage. But I did run out of shampoo one time, and so I took shampoo. I definitely took body wash. I think there was like some candles that no one was claiming, so I did that as well.

“There's some really nice face lotion that also no one was claiming. They said take one. I took five."

Cuningham will have more opportunities to take advantage of team freebies this coming season.

In all seriousness, though, the veteran serves as a leader inside the locker room for this relatively young squad. She is expected to reprise this pivotal role this coming season.
