Indiana Fever fan favorite Sophie Cunningham brought her quirky yet lovable personality to full display on Wednesday night.
The 29-year-old was mic'd up during the Fever's 87-78 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks at Crypto.com Arena. The microphone caught every bit of her infectious energy.
Cunningham loudly cheered on her teammates after they made shots and big plays. Her leadership also shone through while she was on the bench, offering defensive reminders to her squad.
"Hey, even when we're not there, if we have high hands and we are active, it's an illusion on the eyes," she said. "Let's go, we can pick it up a little."
She also had some motivating words for the second unit, who played a big part in the win.
"Come here," Cunningham said. "Hey, this group, let's like go on a good run here. Let's go."
Cunningham backed it up on the floor as well. She turned in her best performance of the season against the Sparks. The veteran wing posted 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting, adding seven rebounds, one assist, and one steal across 27 minutes.
The outing carries added weight given what she overcame. Cunningham missed the final weeks of the 2025 season with a torn MCL in her right knee. She hit free agency but Indiana brought her back on a one-year deal.
Cunningham has logged at least 25 minutes in back-to-back starts to open the year. She is making the most of coach Stephanie White's trust. The beloved enforcer is averaging 7.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists through three games.
On and off the court, Cunningham is exactly the kind of player every team needs.
