The Connecticut Sun and Indiana Fever played one of the most spirited games in WNBA history on Tuesday night, and Sophie Cunningham shared a funny reaction on social media afterward.

There were several heated confrontations involving Caitlin Clark and other players during the Fever’s 88-71 win over the Sun at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind. Clark and Sun guard Jacy Sheldon first got into it early in the second quarter when a brief argument ended with Clark shoving her opponent.

That was only the start of the feud. In the third quarter, Sheldon was defending Clark and hit the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year in the face. Clark then shoved Sheldon again, which led to another skirmish between the Fever and Sun. Several technical fouls and flagrant fouls were handed out. You can see the video here.

Then in the fourth quarter, things got heated again when Cunningham dragged Sheldon to the ground on a meaningless fastbreak opportunity. Cunningham, Sheldon and another player were ejected.

After the game, Cunningham shared a funny photo of herself on her Instagram story:

Cunningham’s hard foul on Sheldon was almost certainly her way of showing that she has Clark’s back. The two quickly developed a close relationship off the court after Cunningham was traded to the Fever earlier this year.

A different angle of one of the skirmishes appeared to show that the Sun were coming at Clark hard, which is something that many teams and players have done since the former Iowa star entered the WNBA last year.
