Indiana Fever veteran Sophie Cunningham shared her thoughts on rookie Raven Johnson. Johnson was selected with the No 10 pick in last week’s WNBA draft. Johnson, a senior from South Carolina, clashed with Caitlin Clark in college, nearly quitting basketball after Clark mocked her shooting abilities.
On Tuesday, after the rookies practiced with the team for the first time, Cunningham had nothing but good things to say about Johnson.
“We got some kind of good rookies like it’s exciting,” Cunningham said on the latest episode of her “Show Me Something” podcast. “I know a big name was Raven Johnson. She was with South Carolina and Raven Johnson is a freaking dog.
“We had our first day of training camp and I just like love her. I think she’s going to be fantastic, great defensive player.”
Before Cunningham praised Johnson, Aliyah Boston, who played with Raven in college, dismissed the possibility of beef between Clark and Johnson. She recalled that she talked with Clark once they became teammates to make sure there was no bad blood there. Boston envisioned the same for the two guards.
“And so I think it’s going to be fine. Everyone has their thoughts, but when you come in, and you’re in the gym and you’re ready to hoop, that’s literally all it is… It literally doesn’t matter,” she said on the “Post Moves” podcast with Candace Parker.

It seems that the drama only exists in the fans’ minds. Clark and Johnson are two fierce competitors, and that should benefit the Fever.
