Sophie Cunningham’s change in appearance through the years turns heads

It has been quite a journey for Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham so far in her career. At 29 and in her eighth season in the WNBA, the 6-foot-1 guard has experienced the ups and downs and everything in between of a professional basketball career.

Cunningham had an iconic college stint with the Missouri Tigers. She is a former SEC Rookie of the Year, a four-time All-SEC and a one-time AP All-American. Cunningham is a Missouri legend, holding the all-time scoring record for the program at 2,187 career points.

The Phoenix Mercury drafted her 13th overall in 2019. She spent the first six seasons of her career with the Mercury before joining the Fever via trade in 2025.

Fans react to Sophie Cunningham’s change in appearance

A video of Cunningham’s transition through the years is currently circulating online. The 47-second clip highlights how much her appearance has changed from an 18-year-old college freshman to an eight-year WNBA vet.

The change in Cunningham’s looks has drawn a lot of attention from the fans on social media.

“Always good looking but she might even be better looking now,” a comment on X read.

“She is getting better looking with age. It isn’t fair,” another said.

“she is magnetic now. it’s hard to take your eyes off her…” a user wrote.

“She is beautiful! Her personality makes her even prettier! ” a comment read.

“Better looking every year,” said another.

“Never been better. Love watching her play,” a supporter stated.

There’s no denying that Cunningham’s looks make her stand out, but the fact of the matter is that she’s a very talented basketball player, too.

She had a meorable first season with the Fever in 2025, and Cunningham has kept her foot on the gas this year. In six games played, she’s firmly established herself as a key piece of head coach Stephanie White’s rotation, averaging 8.7 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.2 triples in 23.7 minutes per contest.

Cunningham and the Fever will be back on the court Thursday for a road matchup against the Golden State Valkyries. Indiana is looking to improve on its 4-2 record and extend its three-game winning streak.
