The Los Angeles Sparks entered Tuesday's contest against the Chicago Sky with a 4-10 record during the 2025 WNBA season. Chicago sits just behind the Sparks in the standings with a 3-10 record.
While veteran guard Ariel Atkins has paced the Sky with 13.9 points per game this season, 2024 WNBA All-Star forward Angel Reese is also contributing 10.8 points and a league-leading 11.8 rebounds per contest.
For the Sparks, newly-added guard Kelsey Plum has led the way with a career-best 20.5 points per contest. The eight-year veteran is also averaging a career-high 5.5 assists, while forward Dearica Hamby is chipping in 16.5 points a night.
During Tuesday evening's game, Plum made a highlight-worthy play late in the third quarter. She came off a Hamby ball screen and blew past Kia Nurse before making a difficult shot at the rim against Sky center Elizabeth Williams.
The Sparks responded to this play by posting a quick message for their star guard on social media.
"KP pushing through. ," the Sparks wrote.

Plum spent the first six seasons of her WNBA career with the San Antonio Stars and Las Vegas Aces before being traded to Los Angeles this summer. She won two WNBA championships alongside three-time MVP A'ja Wilson.
While the Sparks are currently in 10th place in the league standings, they are just 2.5 games out of the playoff picture. After Tuesday's game against Chicago, they will head to Indiana to play the Fever in a Thursday night matchup.
Chicago will be back in action on Friday against the 7-6 Golden State Valkyries before heading to Los Angeles to take the Sparks on once again on Sunday.
