Stephanie White Has Strong Words for Indiana Fever After WNBA Playoff Loss

Stephanie White was not in a jovial mood following the Indiana Fever’s 90-68 blowout loss to the Las Vegas Aces in Game 2 of the WNBA playoffs semifinal series.

There was just no way the Aces were going to lose this one after suffering an unexpected defeat in Game 1, and A’ja Wilson and Co. made sure that there was not going to be any upsets on Tuesday night.

After the game, White expressed her disappointment in her team’s performance. The Fever coach did not hold back.

"We didn't throw any (punches)," White said. "The reality is they came in, they were physical, they dictated, and we were on our heels. We were passive. We were reactive to everything. ... They're too good. We can't spot them 42 (points). We've got to be able to handle that.

“They've been world champions for a reason. They have a mentality that they know exactly how to compete at this stage and at this level. We've got to be able to respond, and we've got to be able to rise to that challenge.”

Indiana certainly did not answer the call in Game 2. The good news for them is that this series shifts to their home floor for Games 3 and 4. The fact that they’re leaving Las Vegas with the series tied at 1-1 means that they are still in a good position to win this best-of-five clash.

White, however, will have to make sure that her team does not make the same mistakes moving forward.

"We were passive," she continued. "I thought we didn't do a good job of attacking the rim. We were on our heels. We were settling for jumpers. We were holding the ball. We didn't have clock awareness.

"I mean, a lot of things that are a little bit uncharacteristic of us. But you've got to give them credit. They came out and they put us on our heels.”

Game 3 is on Friday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, and the Fever must defend their home court. They are in a favorable position right now, but a win for Vegas in Game 3 will flip the script on this series entirely.
