It was just like the last encounter between the Indiana Fever and the Washington Mystics. Caitlin Clark is hitting a clutch three-pointer to get the fans on their feet. This time, though, it was not a game-tying ranged shot but a game-winner.
The Indiana Fever get back to the winning side again following a 78-76 win. With the game-winner, she might have just silenced the critics who pointed at her shooting slump in the recent games to target the star playmaker. In the earlier game, the two-time All-Star already shut down the media speculations over the locker-room feud.
And this time, the coach put her perspective ahead. “I don’t know the noise is ever going to be quiet. This is what Caitlin does. She makes big shots and she has big moments. When you have a player like her, it’s very easy for people to take it for granted. Sometimes we take generational talent for granted. What she did was incredible for us. She’s going to have many more moments like that. I know she is. We needed this one tonight,” Stephanie White said.

She even highlighted her efforts to get back to herself after the injury last season and a defensive play that helped the team get a basket in a key moment. When the coach’s bitter encounter with the 2024 rookie went viral, Stephanie White cleared the ‘misunderstandings’ to the media.
While CC’s gameplays, wins, or even misses make headlines, which keep the 24-year-old always in the public eye, her rivalries also took center stage. And in the game against the Mystics, the former Iowa player might have refreshed old rivalry memories.
CC banked the game-winning shot over Cotie McMahon, a former Ohio State player, and let the defender know how many points she scored by pointing three fingers at her. The rivalry started in 2024 when the Iowa guard shared the victory over Ohio State with fans and clicked a picture with a promotional Buckeyes t-shirt, which irked the Ohio fans.
A season later, Ohio defeated Iowa, and McMahon said, “I’m not going to get into details, but let’s just say Iowa has disrespected us a bit in the way they look at us. We take it personally, and I do too.”
Now, take it or leave it, but Caitlin Clark did answer back with a three-pointer and her gesture.
