The Toronto Tempo have their first-ever All-Star.

Marina Mabrey was selected as a reserve for the 2025-26 WNBA All-Star Game, the league announced on Tuesday.

It is the first All-Star selection of Mabrey’s eight-year career and comes on the heels of her record-tying 53-point game against the Los Angeles Sparks on June 25.

She also tied the WNBA record with nine made 3s, a feat she’s accomplished twice already this season.

The 29-year-old guard is averaging a career-high 21.1 points and 3.5 triples per game to go along with 3.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.1 steals. While her exceptional shot making has stood out, Mabrey has also played strong off-ball defence as a help defender and been a capable pick n’ roll playmaker.

“Marina has been instrumental in setting the standard for our franchise from day one,” said general manager Monica Wright Rogers in a team statement. “Her competitiveness, leadership and impact on our organization and fanbase makes this recognition incredibly well-deserved.”

Mabrey was selected by the Tempo in the WNBA Expansion Draft and designated as a core piece of the franchise entering its inaugural season, giving them exclusive negotiating rights during the league’s free agency period.

After struggling last season with the Connecticut Sun, shooting a career-low 27 percent from 3, Mabrey has turned it around in a big way, shooting 39.9 percent on a career-high volume of 8.5 attempts per game. Her 60.6 percent true shooting is also a career high.

“Marina’s work ethic and commitment to winning show up every single day,” said Toronto Tempo head coach Sandy Brondello. “She’s embraced every challenge, elevated her game and made everyone around her better. We’re thrilled to see her recognized as a WNBA All-Star.”

“It feels really good to be named a WNBA All-Star,” Mabrey added. “After years of hard work and perseverance, it’s incredibly validating to be recognized among the best players in the league. I’m grateful to my teammates, coaches and everyone who has supported me throughout my career.”
