'The Disrespect Right Now For Our Team Has Been Pretty Unbelievable': Caitlin Clark Not Getting Calls Gets Officials Slammed By Fever HC Stephanie White

On Sunday, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever fell 90-88 against the New York Liberty, but it wasn’t without a final effort from Clark, leading to a late-game controversy that HC Stephanie White raised after the game.

With two seconds left in the fourth, the game is tied at 88. Sabrina Ionescu added two free throws for the Liberty after Lexie Hull fouled her. Clark, needing a clutch shot, had her tenth turnover after Natasha Cloud stripped the ball away, ending the game in New York’s favor.

Following the match, White never held back in her comments. She believed Cloud’s steal should’ve been a foul while highlighting the disparity between the Liberty and the Fever’s free throws, 30 to 10.

“I thought she got fouled,” White said. “I think it’s pretty egregious what’s happening to us in the last few games. You know, a -31 in free-throw discrepancy and I might be able to understand that if we were just chucking 3s but we’re not. We’re attacking the rim. The disrespect right now for our team has been pretty unbelievable.”

Caitlin Clark recorded 18 points, 10 assists, and five rebounds against the Liberty, although her 10 turnovers and five personal fouls are significant drawbacks. Aliyah Boston led the Fever with 27 points and 13 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Jonquel Jones led the Liberty with 26 points and 12 rebounds, while Ionescu had 23 points. Cloud had 16 points and seven rebounds.

The Fever, 2-2, have only attempted 56 free throws compared to the opponent’s 80 this season, something White was concerned about. The team’s frustration with their losses and the whistles is evident.

Sabrina Ionescu praises teammate after game-saving stop on Caitlin Clark

Following the Liberty’s narrow win against the Indiana Fever, thanks to Natasha Cloud stripping the ball away from Caitlin Clark, star guard Sabrina Ionescu praises Cloud for her defensive brilliance.

“She had one against DeWanna Bonner that was a huge block at the rim, and then got a huge stop at the end [on Clark]… she plays with a lot of heart, and we know what we’re gonna get from her,” Ionescu said after the game,” Ionescu said via NY writer Myles Ehrlich on X/Twitter.

Cloud’s antics prevented the Fever from going to overtime or getting the win, giving the Liberty 3-0 standing. It culminated the former Phoenix Mercury’s tough performance on Sunday: five steals and two blocks.
