In 2022, Paige Bueckers partnered with Chegg to address the growing issue of food insecurity among students. As Chegg’s first student-athlete brand ambassador, Bueckers worked to raise awareness about student hunger, an issue that had worsened due to the pandemic.
A report from Chegg.org revealed that 32% of U.S. college students had experienced food insecurity since the pandemic began, mirroring a larger crisis affecting over 38 million Americans, including 12 million children. To take action, Bueckers and Chegg collaborated with Goodr, a hunger relief and food recovery company, to launch a free pop-up grocery market in Minneapolis during the NCAA Final Four Weekend.
Phoenix Mercury legend and three-time WNBA champion Diana Taurasi, in a recent interview, shared her bold prediction on the future of Paige Bueckers in the WNBA.
“As you can tell already, Paige from game one to game two, she’s a different player,” Taurasi said. “And from game two to game 10, she’s gonna be a different player. And that’s gonna go for their team as well.”
“The one thing I know about Paige is she’s so grounded, she’s so patient, she’s so prepared. And I think she has learned that in the past four or five years. And all those things that she learned at Connecticut. … One day, she’s going to end up being the best player in the league, for sure.”
Bueckers, the number one pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, has faced a tough start to her professional career with the Dallas Wings, who are currently 0-4. Despite her undeniable talent, she has struggled with efficiency, shooting just 34% from the field.
In her most recent game, she was benched in the fourth quarter after shooting 4-of-15, highlighting the team’s ongoing search for the right rotation.
Bueckers has acknowledged areas for improvement, particularly in organizing the team’s offense and creating better scoring opportunities. She has emphasized the need for better communication and patience as the Wings adjust to a new roster and coaching staff.
Despite the struggles, Paige Bueckers remains optimistic, stating that each game is a chance to learn and grow.
