Whenever the name Caitlin Clark is being thrown around, the WNBA quickly comes to mind. Her contributions to the league, mainly the strong fan base behind her, have allowed the league to widen its reach and realize its maximum potential. However, one of Clark’s predecessors in the Hoosier State has gone on the record to tell the world how unappreciated Clark is.

On Monday’s episode of “The IBJ Podcast with Mason King,” Indiana hoops icon Judi Warren expressed her admiration for the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year and raised a question as to why she’s not getting the love she deserves within the WNBA.

“Seeing Caitlin Clark come along and bring the entire WNBA with her, I just can’t understand why some people who are playing in the WNBA don’t bow down to her and thank her constantly,” Warren said (Timestamp: 45:41).

Warren, who was recognized as Indiana’s first Miss Basketball in 1976, said that it would be smart for the WNBA to protect Clar at all costs, and to keep her playing “for as long as they possibly,” can as her popularity can make the WNBA bigger as ever.

“(It’s not just) young kids that like watching her play,” Warren said (Timestamp: 46:11). “The men have now jumped in and are now starting to see how well the women’s game can be played.”

With how Caitlin Clark rakes people in and get them hooked on their television screens or fill up the stadiums, the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame inductee’s vision of players staying home could come closer to fruition.

Caitlin Clark sets the bar once more before the All-Star Game in Indiana

Just days before the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game, Caitlin Clark set another statistical record.

In the Indiana Fever’s 102-83 victory over the Dallas Wings on Sunday, Clark became the fastest WNBA player to get to 200 points and 100 assists in a single season.

CC finished with 14 points and 13 assists after going toe-to-toe with old rival Paige Bueckers for the first time in a WNBA matchup. On Saturday, Clark and Buckers turn a new page in their rivalry under the bright lights of the Gainbridge Fieldhouse for the All-Star game.
