There Are Growing Calls For WNBA To Ban Marina Mabrey

Marina Mabrey has become public enemy No. 1 in the WNBA because of her antics during Tuesday's game between the Connecticut Sun and Indiana Fever.

With under five minutes remaining in the third quarter, Jacy Sheldon got called for a foul on Caitlin Clark. She swiped at the Indiana star's face as she was trying to steal the ball. Obviously, that didn't sit well with Clark. However, she wasn't able to chirp at Sheldon.

That's because Mabrey legitimately sent Clark to the ground with a cheap shot. It was a wild scene that resulted in the crowd booing Mabrey off the court.

When the dust settled, the officials gave Mabrey a technical foul for shoving Clark. She wasn't ejected for her antics. As for Sheldon, she was assessed a flagrant 1 foul.

While it's possible Mabrey will apologize for her antics, WNBA fans won't listen to a word she says. Many of them have come to the conclusion that she should be suspended for an extended period of time.

"They should suspend Marina Mabrey for the rest of the season tbh," one fan said.

"Marina Mabrey deserves a lifetime ban from the WNBA," another fan suggested.

"Mabrey should have been ejected," a third fan declared. "Refs need to be reprimanded. Luckily CC didn’t get hurt being shoved like that. The league needs to suspend Mabrey. If not it could get ugly."

"Suspend Mabrey for the rest of the year. Or throw her in jail. There’s no room for this in Caitlin Clark’s league," a social media user declared.

"Marina Mabrey is a jealous loser punk. Asks to be traded on every single team she’s on until she’s on worst team in the league and completely irrelevant unless she’s cheap shorting Caitlin. Go play in rec league where nobody gives a [expletive] about you," Dave Portnoy of Barstool Sports said.

As for the actual results from Tuesday night's game, Clark led the Fever to a blowout win over the Sun. She had 20 points and 6 assists.

The Fever will return to action Thursday against the Golden State Valkyrie.
