Angel Reese hears the noise—and she’s cool with it.
The Chicago Sky rookie has been catching heat online lately for rebounding her own missed shots. Critics tried to clown her with the nickname “mebounds,” but instead of getting defensive, Reese decided to run with it.
“Whoever came up with the ‘mebounds’ thing, y’all ate that up,” Reese said with a laugh. “Mebounds, crebounds, keybounds, tebounds… anything that comes off the board, it’s mine.”
She even thanked her haters for the content. “When y’all came up with mebounds—cause yeah, not all my boards are just mine—they’re team rebounds too—but the trolling? Y’all ate.”
The clip went viral almost instantly. ESPN’s Monica McNutt couldn’t help but show love for the way Reese handled it.
“The girl gets it,” McNutt commented. “Come on 6 figuresssss.”
And for what it’s worth, Angel Reese is backing it up. She leads the league in rebounds with 11.8 per game—so yeah, she’s grabbing boards, whether people like how it looks or not.
The Clark-Reese rivalry has been a hot topic since their college days. Now that they’re both in the WNBA, the comparisons—and drama—are still going strong. Unfortunately, so is the hate, with Reese taking the brunt of it from some corners of Clark’s fanbase.
McNutt addressed it head-on.
“Caitlin Clark fans: You can love your favorite player and say nothing about Angel Reese,” she said. “Like our parents used to say, if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.”
It’s not the first time McNutt has spoken up. She’s consistently pushed for equal treatment across the league. But anytime she publicly backs Reese, especially when Clark’s name is floating around, it sets off a wave of online debate.
McNutt even said during the Sky’s season opener against Indiana that if the roles were reversed, the public reaction would’ve looked a lot different.
Still, Reese isn’t worried. She’s hooping, she’s hustling, and now she’s cashing in on “mebounds.” Like she said—if it comes off the glass, it’s hers.
