Top 10 WNBA player power rankings: Stewart rules the Storm's reign over the summer

The action this WNBA season just isn't slowing down. The Minnesota Lynx and Los Angeles Sparks are still good but no longer have a stranglehold over the top two slots in the league, and the parity across the 12 teams makes every game a must-watch.

Plus, it helps that the stars aren't just shining this season; they're absolutely blinding. Here's our latest player power rankings, where we attempt to put all of this greatness in perspective.

1. Breanna Stewart, Seattle Storm (F)

The Stewie for MVP campaign hasn't slowed down one bit. In her third year, Stewart has taken over the WNBA. She leads the league in scoring, averaging 22 points per game, and is fifth in the league in rebounds per game, hauling in eight per contest. She also averages 2.6 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.6 blocks per game.

She also is among the leaders in win shares, true shooting percentage and player efficiency rating. There's simply no weakness in her résumé.

2. Liz Cambage, Dallas Wings (C)

Unlike her last stint in the United States playing for the Tulsa Shock in 2013, this season, Cambage seems to be enjoying herself both on the court and off of it with her Wings teammates. Goodness is it fun to have her back in the WNBA. She's nearly averaging a double-double, with 20.1 points and 9.6 rebounds, and if advanced stats are your thing, she's the player with the most positive impact on games given her league-leading player impact estimate. Her 37-point, 10-rebound, four-assist performance against Chicago on July 3 was a masterclass.

3. Elena Delle Donne, Washington Mystics (F)

Delle Donne's season got off to a bit of a slow start due to a flare-up of Lyme disease, but she has found her form and then some over the last couple of weeks — so much so that she vaulted up five spots in these rankings. She's earned two consecutive Eastern Conference Player of the Week Awards and is averaging 20.5 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game, leading the league in offensive rating. Her cold-blooded game-winning shot against the New York Liberty at the end of June was one of the shots of the year.

4. Diana Taurasi, Phoenix Mercury (G)

Since our last player power rankings, Taurasi became the WNBA's all-time field goal leader when she hit her 2,631st field goal in a game against the Connecticut Sun. She's slowed down just a hair since our last rankings, but one of the most impressive things about Taurasi is that no matter what, she always finds a way to contribute. On June 30 against Washington, she was held to just seven points but still dished nine assists and grabbed six rebounds. Her 19.6 points and 4.7 assists are among the best in the league.

5. A'ja Wilson, Las Vegas Aces (C)

If you're expecting A'ja Wilson to hit a rookie wall, then you're going to wait forever. Wilson is second in the league in points, averaging 20.6 per game, and third in rebounds at 8.5. On July 7 against Connecticut, she had a staggering 34 points and 14 rebounds. She's not just a lock for Rookie of the Year — she's one of the players in the conversation for MVP if Stewart hits a rough patch.

6. Skylar Diggins-Smith, Dallas Wings (G)

The Notre Dame alumnus is having the best year of her career, averaging 19.3 points, 6.2 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game. Of course, Diggins-Smith's shot-making and ball-handling are her calling cards, but what really sets her apart from other great point guards is her assertiveness. Even though Diggins-Smith is only 5-9, she had seven rebounds when the Wings played Tina Charles and the New York Liberty on July 8. And that wasn't even her best rebounding outing of the season — she had 12 against the Indiana Fever in June.

7. Sylvia Fowles, Minnesota Lynx (C)

The Minnesota Lynx continue to have a bit of an inconsistent season, but you can't blame last year's MVP for that. Last year, Fowles averaged 18.9 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. This year, she's averaging 17.3 points and 11.9 rebounds per game. Yes, you read that right — she's actually having the best rebounding year of her career. Unsurprisingly, she leads the league in defensive win shares and total rebound percentage.

8. Brittney Griner, Phoenix Mercury (C)

Griner fell a bit in the rankings this week, but that's more of an indictment of her team's struggles combined with the stellar play of others individuals on this list, not on her play. Griner is still spectacular, averaging 20 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. The one area she could improve is rebounds, though. She's gone six straight games without reaching double digits in rebounds, and with power forward Sancho Lyttle out for the season with an ACL tear, Griner is going to really need to help the Mercury on the glass.

9. Nneka Ogwumike, Los Angeles Sparks (F)

The 2016 WNBA MVP has been making her presence known in recent weeks. She's scored 20 or more points in two of the last four game, a feat she'd only accomplished twice the entire season prior to this stretch. Overall, Ogwumike is averaging 16.5 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game, and she leads the league in effective field-goal percentage.

10. Maya Moore, Minnesota Lynx (F)

It feels strange to have Moore at the bottom of the list, but she's simply been too inconsistent this season to be considered an MVP candidate. Still, she's averaging 18.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game, and she is top 10 in the league in points, three-pointers made and steals. Plus, she was on the cover of SLAM Magazine this week, making her the first woman to grace the basketball magazine's cover in 20 years. She's always making an impact.

Honorable mentions: Candace Parker, Tiffany Hayes, Jewell Loyd, Chiney Ogwumike, Kayla McBride, Tina Charles
