Troubling Angel Reese Development Revealed by Sky Coach Tyler Marsh

Earlier this month the Chicago Sky announced a half-game suspension for star forward Angel Reese for "statements detrimental to the team."

"The Chicago Sky values the safety, respect, and well-being of every player," the team said in a statement at the time. "We are committed to accountability so our players can stay focused on playing basketball. This matter has been handled and resolved internally, and we are moving forward as a team."

Angel Reese Doesn't Hold Back on Sky Roster

The suspension announcement came after Reese told reporters she's not "not settling for the same s*** we did this year," adding that the team "[has] to get great players" this offseason, suggesting she might leave the team if her wishes aren't met.

She also called out the team's guard situation with aging veteran Courtney Vandersloot coming back from a torn ACL.

"We can't rely on Courtney to come back at the age that she's at. I know she'll be a great asset for us, but we can't rely on that," Reese said. "We need someone, probably a little younger with some experience, somebody who's been playing the game and is willing to compete for a championship and has done it before."

Angel Reese Has Yet to Serve Her Suspension

Reese still hasn't served her suspension from the team as she's been held out of the last two games with a back injury. All indications seemed to suggest she planned to play on Tuesday night against the Las Vegas Aces, which led to a telling comment from head coach Tyler Marsh.

"It sounded like pregame you thought Angel would play...what changed?" a reporter asked the Sky head coach.

"Yeah, that was the thought - similar to last game - and upon warm-ups, after warm-ups, she communicated that she just wasn't feeling it physically. So she reported that pain and again we wanted to hold her back," he admitted.

It's unclear if she'll play in the team's final regular season game against the New York Liberty on Thursday, Sept. 11.
