In an unexpected turn of events for Tyasha Harris, she is back in her hometown with HC Stephanie White and the Indiana Fever ahead of the new WNBA season.
During a recent media availability on April 22, Harris explained her return to Indianapolis, giving credit to Fever GM Amber Cox for trusting her and making her dream a reality.
“Indiana came out of nowhere, honestly. Amber contacted my agent, and literally the next morning, she came to my workout. She liked what she saw, and she was like, ‘let’s get this happening.'”
Indy product Tyasha Harris said she always wanted to play back at home at some point in her career.

Harris to Indiana was first reported by the Indy Star’s Chloe Peterson on April 11. The Fever added the 27-year-old as a valuable rotational player to support their core of Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston, and Kelsey Mitchell.
Harris graduated from Heritage Christian, played for South Carolina during her collegiate career, and the Dallas Wings selected her as the seventh overall pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft.
She first joined forces with current head coach Stephanie White in 2023. The Dallas Wings had traded her to the Connecticut Sun after three seasons.
Initially starting as a backup point guard, Harris started 38 of 39 games in her sophomore season with the Sun, averaging 10.5 points and 3.0 assists. She also had an impressive playoff showing as Connecticut reached the semifinals.
Harris is returning from a season-ending left knee injury that limited her to playing only five games with Dallas last season. She will likely see limited minutes in her initial games with the Fever.
Overall, Harris joins the Fever with five years of WNBA experience and 172 regular-season games under her belt, in which she started in 49.
While Harris admitted it will take time to get used to the new environment, she has the luxury of having former Gamecocks teammate Aliyah Boston there to help her at all times.
Aliyah Boston recently signed a record four-year, $6.3 million contract with the Indiana Fever and shared her thoughts on reuniting with former Gamecocks teammate Tyasha Harris, as well as teaming up with Raven Johnson.
“Yeah, super excited its like a full-circle moment for me, I was Ty’s freshman, and Raven was mine, so I just think they are going to bring the hard work. I think we’ve all seen Raven perform last year, and Ty with just her experience, and she’s played under coach Steph before, so I’m just super excited.”
Aliyah Boston has never missed a game in her professional career. Since being drafted by the Indiana Fever, she has played in all 124 regular-season games that were possible.
The 24-year-old forward-center solidified her place as one of the best in the league. Last Season, she played in 44 games and averaged 15.0 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.2 steals.
So, are you excited to see the former South Carolina teammates play under the bright lights of the WNBA this upcoming season?
