WNBA fans won't need to wait until May to see Angel Reese play with her new Chicago Sky teammate, Ariel Atkins.
The Sky traded for Atkins on Sunday, sending the No. 3 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, a 2027 second-round pick and the right to swap first-round picks in the same year to the Washington Mystics.
A two-time All-Star and a five-time member of the WNBA All-Defensive Teams, Atkins is expected to give the Sky a huge boost in their bid to return to playoff and title contention.
It is also worth noting, however, that Atkins is currently playing in the Unrivaled 3-on-3 league. She joined on a relief player contract and was previously assigned to the Laces BC amid the team's injury woes.
For Monday's slate of Unrivaled games, though, Atkins has been reassigned to a different team: the Rose BC. Interestingly, Reese plays for the aforementioned club.
Unrivaled made the announcement about the decision for Atkins on Monday, just a couple of hours before Rose BC plays Phantom BC.
"Relief guard Ariel Atkins will play for the Rose BC in tonight's matchup," Unrivaled stated.
Sure enough, fans expressed excitement about seeing Angel Reese and Ariel Atkins play together ahead of their Sky team-up.
"So Angel is going to play with her new teammate tonight?" a commenter wrote. Another one said, "Preview of Chicago Sky line up."
The Sky themselves commented, saying, "Tuned in."
Of course, the Chicago faithful will have to wait until the WNBA season to see how much of an impact Atkins can make on the Sky. Still, to see Reese and Atkins play together earlier than expected is a huge treat.
