Unrivaled Makes Historic Angel Reese Announcement on Friday

Chicago Sky star Angel Reese had quite the performance in the Unrivaled league on Friday night.

Reese, who plays for Rose BC in the tournament, had a monster double-double to help her team beat the then-undefeated Lunar Owls, 72-63. The WNBA All-Star finished with 22 points and 21 rebounds, along with two assists, one steal and one block.

With that, Reese became the first player to ever have a 20-20 performance in the league. Granted that it's just the first season of Unrivaled, it's worth noting that no other player has been able to grab more than 20 rebounds in a game. The Lunar Owls' Napheesa Collier came closest with 18 boardsĀ earlier in the competition.

The Unrivaled itself made the revelation on social media, highlighting that it's the best double-double game so far.

"No surprise here," Unrivaled wrote on social media. "ANGEL REESE is our @millerlite Player of the Game! With 22 points and 21 rebounds, she has the highest double-double in Unrivaled history."

The history aside, Angel Reese and Rose BC have now won four straight games and have improved their record to 5-4, good for third overall in the standings. It's a significant climb for the team, especially after starting 1-4 in Unrivaled.

It remains to be seen if Reese will be able to maintain her current production, though it would be unwise to doubt her. Reese is averaging 12.1 points and 11.4 rebounds in the tournament, with her rebounding tally just behind Alyssa Thomas (11.7) and Breanna Stewart (11.6).
