U.S. Governor Wants WNBA Star Brittney Griner Investigated

The WNBA hasn't shown a willingness to discipline Brittney Griner, but that won't stop prominent figures from calling out the All-Star center.

Back on May 20, the Atlanta Dream fell short to the Indiana Fever at home. Griner, who was in foul trouble throughout that game, was on the bench when the cameras showed her shouting something in frustration. While it's possible she was directing her anger at the refs, fans are convinced she was mad at Caitlin Clark.

Several people are convinced Griner called Clark a "trash white girl," including Fox Sports personality Skip Bayless. He ripped the WNBA for not investigating this situation.

"I waited to comment on this until the WNBA was able to investigate it. I wanted them to issue a statement about it. But we have heard nothing from the WNBA, absolutely nothing. And Brittney Griner has not commented, which I find significant," Bayless said on his self-titled show.

Bayless isn't the only person calling for a league-wide investigation.

During an interview with Fox News Digital, Indiana Gov. Braun commented on the "hate" Clark receives from the WNBA world. He wants any hatred shown towards the former No. 1 pick to come to an end as soon as possible.

"I’m one that absolutely has zero tolerance for bigotry and bullying and all the stuff that comes along with that whole discussion," Braun said, via Fox News Digital. "When comments are made that don’t make sense … when it’s out of line, you need to acknowledge it. So, I agree with Sen. Banks there, and I hope that there’s not any of that there."

Braun then said the WNBA should look into Griner's recent comments.

For now, the WNBA is holding its ground. If pressure continues to mount though, the league may have no choice but to take action.
