Watch: Sophie Cunningham reacts to ejection after 2 technical fouls vs. Lynx, referee’s accountability

Phoenix Mercury guard Sophie Cunningham voiced what happened after receiving the first ejection of her WNBA career, saying that she wanted to let her emotions out and light a spark under the team in the 89-76 loss to the Minnesota Lynx on Wednesday.

Cunningham received two technical fouls in the fourth quarter after not being pleased with the officiating. She later expressed that the referees need to be held accountable for their mistakes just like the players do.

Coming off the bench for the first game after starting the last six, she was the joint leader with Diana Taurasi in scoring, 16 points, before she was ejected. Before she was tossed, Cunningham scored her 1,327th career point, moving up to 10th in scoring all-time in Mercury franchise history.
