Caitlin Clark’s partnership with American trading cards and collectibles heavyweight Panini has set ablaze a new fever among WNBA fans for collecting in recent times.
In their latest partnership, Panini unveiled a unique take on the card hobby, mixing the love of card collecting along with history lessons of CC’s journey to the top so far.
The Caitlin Clark Chronicled is centered on a new 100-card “Chronicled” set and a 22-page premium keepsake highlighting her time in the WNBA and beyond.
“I’m excited to launch Caitlin Clark Chronicled with Panini America and share some of my favourite moments on and off the court from my first two years in the WNBA. We wanted to create something different that combined great photography with trading cards, including some special exclusives. I am proud of this collection and hope fans enjoy it.” Clark said in a statement released by Panini.
From celebrations, hype moments, and time with fans, the book consists of vibrant images of CC both on and off the court. The highlight of the product is eight (8) four-card packs per keepsake with 32 randomly inserted trading cards at purchase.
But as in any premium hobby set, that is not all. Collectors can find exclusive autographed cards, including Clark’s 2024 Athlete of the Year TIME magazine cover.
Apart from the high-end glamour, collectors can also find “parallels” of the cards, which are rarer to find than the base cards. “Red Holo” and “Red Cracked Ice” are a few of Panini’s standard types of parallels in every set, including this.
Caitlin Clark Chronicled is now available at Target stores and Target.com, and will soon be available at Panini America’s site as well.
Ever since her inception in the WNBA, the Caitlin Clark RC (rookie card) market has been on fire, and the six-figure prices just keep going up.
At the top of the list we have the crown jewel of women’s basketball cards – The 2024 Panini Flawless “Logowoman” 1/1 rookie card. Only one in the world, it was sold at a record-breaking price of $660,000 last July.
In second place is the 2024 Panini Prizm Signatures Gold Vinyl 1/1 rookie. It fetched around $366,000 last March, making it the second-highest sale and another historic milestone.
While CC possesses multiple six-figure card sales to her name, there is one that might be closer to her than most.
NFL legend Tom Brady, who is an avid collector himself, recently posted a story that he added Clark’s 2024 PRIZM authentic rookie card, featuring her signature and the inscription “GREATNESS,” to his personal collection. He also tagged Clark, who eventually reposted the story.
After looking at the Caitlin Clark card market, there is no doubt that Chronicled will also be a massive success among collectors, and we could very well be seeing record-breaking sales once again.
