Why Is Lexie Hull Not Playing Tonight for Indiana Fever?

Lexie Hull remains out of action for the Indiana Fever on Saturday night as they play their final preseason game. This marks the 6-foot-1 guard’s third missed contest as Hull is forced to sit out Indiana’s entire preseason slate.

Hull is out of action on Saturday against the Nigeria Women’s National Basketball team due to a lingering hamstring injury. This same issue kept her out for the Fever’s preseason opener against the New York Liberty on April 25 as well as for Thursday’s loss against the Dallas Wings.

Indiana head coach Stephanie White addressed Hull’s situation ahead of Saturday’s game.

White did not seem too concerned about Hull’s injury. The message from the former WNBA Coach of the Year suggests that the Fever decided to have Hull sit out again on Saturday to give her more time to heal.

“With some of those naggy things, if it's not necessary, then we'll take our time, and now she'll have a whole ‘nother week before we have to play again,” White said, via Chloe Peterson of the Indianapolis Star.

White said earlier this week that the plan was for Hull to log some minutes Saturday in the preseason finale. This was not the case.

Hull’s next chance to suit up will be in the Fever’s season-opener on May 9 against the Wings. The team should provide more updates in the coming week, which should determine her final status for the first game of the new WNBA season.

Hull was a restricted free agent during the offseason. She opted to remain in Indiana, signing a new two-year contract worth an estimated $1.6 million.
