WNBA Analyst Sends Blunt Message About Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese 'Rivalry'

The moment that WNBA fans have all been waiting for is set to occur on Saturday.

In the opening game of their 2025 campaigns and the first game of their second WNBA seasons, Caitlin Clark's Indiana Fever will host Angel Reese's Chicago Sky. With a rivalrous relationship that dates back to their days in college, they have been nothing short of spectacular for the WNBA.

In addition to both being named WNBA All-Stars in their rookie seasons last year, they also helped attract a new wave of fans. The two young stars are also a significant reason that the WNBA racked up a record 54 million unique viewers on television broadcasts last season.

While many fans and analysts around the sport view them as rivals, one basketball content creator who doesn't is Rachel DeMita. The host of the Big3 league and popular NBA/WNBA podcast "Courtside Club," took to X prior to Saturday's bout to shoot down a post that was indicating it is in fact a rivalry.

While many fans have taken sides in this perceived rivalry, DeMita views the whole Clark vs. Reese narrative as one that needs to be a thing of the past.

"this rivalry is DOA.. time for some new narratives guys," wrote DeMita.

It's hard to imagine that fans will ever let go of the rivalry that helped catapult the league's popularity into a different stratosphere. Still, the rivalry talk could die down if it becomes more one-sided over the years.

Clark and the Fever won three of the four meetings last season, and ESPN's Matchup Predictor views them as the favorite for Saturday.

The game is set to be played at Gainbridge Fieldhouse and will tip at 3:00 p.m. ET, while airing on ABC.
