The rivalry between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese has become one of the most closely followed storylines in women’s basketball, stretching from their college careers into the professional ranks. Their matchup on the national stage during the 2023 NCAA championship game, when Reese’s LSU team defeated Clark’s Iowa squad, helped elevate the sport to new levels of attention, drawing record viewers.
Both stars entered the WNBA in the same draft class in 2024, with Clark selected first overall by the Indiana Fever and Reese going seventh to the Chicago Sky, setting the stage for a rivalry that quickly carried over to the pros.
Since then, Fever-Sky games featuring Clark and Reese have consistently been must-see events. Their meetings have delivered sellout crowds, elevated television ratings, and moments that dominated headlines.
Last season, their opening matchup included on-court drama and physical play, highlighted by Clark recording a 20-point triple-double and a widely discussed flagrant foul sequence involving both players. The intensity of those games helped make the rivalry one of the WNBA’s most marketable attractions.
Fans hoping for an immediate rematch in 2026, however, will have to wait a little longer. The WNBA released its schedule on Wednesday, confirming that the Fever and Sky will face each other only three times this season, down from five meetings previously. Their first showdown is scheduled for June 11.

The timing marks a notable change from last season, when Indiana and Chicago opened their schedules against each other. This year, the Fever will begin the season on the road against the Dallas Wings on May 9, while the Sky will open at home on May 10 against the expansion Portland Fire. As a result, fans will wait nearly a month before Clark and Reese share the floor again.
The delay also follows a stretch in which the two stars have not faced each other due to injuries. Clark was sidelined late last season with groin and quad issues that ultimately kept her out for the rest of the season, while Reese also missed time with a back injury. Their absence from head-to-head matchups only added to the anticipation surrounding their next meeting.
When June arrives, the hope across the league is that both players will be fully healthy. Clark and Reese have proven to be central figures not only for their teams but for the WNBA as a whole, with their rivalry continuing to drive interest, viewership, and conversation whenever their paths cross.
