The WNBA is back in action, and on Saturday, it was all Indiana Fever in their matchup against the Chicago Sky. After taking a 45–32 lead into halftime, the Fever never looked back, cruising to a dominant 93–58 victory—the largest season-opening win in franchise history.
But the game wasn’t just notable for the scoreline. On Sunday morning, the WNBA highlighted several historic achievements from the matchup, many of which featured star guard Caitlin Clark.
In addition to the record-breaking win, veteran forward and new Fever addition DeWanna Bonner surpassed Tina Thompson for third place on the WNBA’s all-time scoring list, now with 7,489 career points.
As for Clark, her triple-double performance added to her growing legacy. She tied Candace Parker for the third-most triple-doubles in WNBA history (including playoffs) with three. Even more impressively, she became the fastest player in league history to reach that milestone, doing so in just 41 games.
Clark finished the game with 20 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, four blocks, and two steals—adding yet another standout performance to her young career.
"The Indiana Fever made history in yesterday’s season opener," WNBA posted.

Following a first-round playoff exit in 2024 and a 20–20 regular season finish, the Indiana Fever took major steps this offseason to elevate their roster and coaching staff. The goal was clear: build a championship-caliber team around their core of Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston, Kelsey Mitchell, and Lexie Hull.
To lead the charge, the Fever hired franchise legend Stephanie White as the team’s new head coach. In free agency, they made several impactful additions, signing veterans DeWanna Bonner, Natasha Howard, Sophie Cunningham, and Sydney Colson. These moves reflect the organization’s commitment to taking the next step and competing for a WNBA title in 2025.
