Caitlin Clark watched from the bench yet again on Sunday as the Indiana Fever took on the Golden State Valkyries in a road game that had major playoff implications for both sides.
Clark missed her 18th straight game due to a groin injury that has kept her out since mid-July. The rest of the Fever have had to step up amid her extended absence, with no player carrying a heavier workload than three-time All-Star Kelsey Mitchell.
The Fever have had to lean significantly on Mitchell during Clark’s spell on the sidelines. During that stretch, the 5-foot-8 guard has averaged 22.1 points on 44.0% shooting, 1.8 rebounds and 4.1 assists, while also knocking down 3.0 triples per contest on a 42.9% clip.
On Sunday against the Valkyries, Mitchell rewrote the history books with yet another milestone in what has been an incredible campaign for her. The WNBA took to social media to announce Mitchell’s latest historic feat.
“100 FROM DEEP! With her second triple tonight, Kelsey Mitchell hit her 100th three of the season — now leading the league. She has recorded three seasons with 100+ 3PM (2023–25), the first player in WNBA history to reach that mark three times,” the league posted on X.

Mitchell isn’t exactly the best three-point shooter in the WNBA, but the fact that she’s the only player to have surpassed the century mark in three consecutive seasons is a testament to her consistency, as well as her elite scoring ability.
With Clark still without a timetable for her return, the Fever will need Mitchell to keep her foot on the gas the rest of the way if they want to secure that elusive playoff spot.
