WNBA Announces Las Vegas Aces History on Wednesday

The Las Vegas Aces are writing history. On Wednesday, the Aces secured their 15th consecutive win with a dominating 92-61 victory over the Chicago Sky, joining an elite list of WNBA teams to achieve such a feat.

Only three other teams have done this in league history: the 1998 Houston Comets, the 2001 Los Angeles Sparks and the 2014 Phoenix Mercury. Impressively, all three went on to win the championship that same season.

Aces’ Team Effort Powers Historic Streak

Tuesday night’s victory was more than just a number—it showcased the depth and talent of the Aces.

Jackie Young and Jewell Loyd led the scoring with 15 points each, while Chelsea Gray added 10 points alongside 5 assists and 6 rebounds. Even A’ja Wilson, the team’s superstar and MVP favorite, took a lighter role with 11 points, five rebounds, four assists, and three blocks in just 25 minutes on the court.

Loyd also achieved a personal milestone, becoming the 16th player in WNBA history to reach 6,000 career points during the game. This historic win put the Aces firmly in contention for the second seed in the playoffs, depending on the results of other key matchups in the league.

The Aces’ 15-game win streak is all the more remarkable given their shaky start to the season. On August 2, the team lost to the Minnesota Lynx, leaving their record at 14-14. Since then, Las Vegas has been unstoppable, defeating top contenders including the Lynx, New York Liberty and Phoenix Mercury.

A’ja Wilson’s MVP-Caliber Performance

While the win Tuesday wasn’t defined by her alone, Wilson continues to cement her place as the frontrunner for WNBA MVP. Over the 15-game streak, Wilson scored 30 points in 8 games, showing consistency that few players in WNBA history can match.

The Aces have one more regular-season game remaining against the Los Angeles Sparks. A win would extend their streak to 16 games, tying the 2014 Phoenix Mercury for the second-longest in WNBA history.

Looking ahead, the Aces are likely to face either the Indiana Fever, Golden State Valkyries, or Seattle Storm in the playoffs. With their current form, they are considered favorites not only to advance but also to secure another WNBA championship potentially.
